Where grit meets greatness
Look, we're not gonna sugarcoat it - this place isn't for everyone. Started Obsidrix Frontier back in 2019 because I was sick of gyms that felt like country clubs. You know the type - all show, no substance.
We built this facility for people who actually want to work. The ones who don't mind calluses, who know that real progress comes from consistency, not some magic pill or trendy workout fad. Our crew's been training athletes, regular folks, and everyone in between who's willing to put in the effort.
Vancouver's got plenty of fitness options, but we're doing something different here. It's about building capacity - making you stronger, faster, more resilient than you thought possible. And yeah, we'll push you, but we're right there with you every rep of the way.
Opened our doors with just 800 square feet and a vision. Three barbell stations, some kettlebells, and a whole lot of ambition. Started with 12 members who believed in what we were building.
Expanded to 2,400 square feet. Added proper Olympic lifting platforms, got serious about our coaching certifications. Started working with local university athletes - that changed everything for us.
Moved to our current spot on Frontier Avenue. 5,000 square feet of purpose-built training space. Brought on three more coaches who actually know their stuff. Launched our nutrition program.
Over 200 members strong. We've worked with everyone from complete beginners to provincial-level competitors. Still maintaining that same no-BS approach we started with.
Founder & Head Coach
Former competitive powerlifter, been coaching for 11 years. Got my CSCS certification and honestly learned more from training thousands of hours than any textbook.
Built this place because I wanted a gym where effort matters more than your Instagram following.
Performance Coach
Track and field background, specialized in Olympic lifting. Been with Obsidrix since 2021. Got my Level 2 USAW cert and work mainly with our competitive athletes.
Love seeing people hit PRs they didn't think were possible. That's the good stuff.
HIIT Specialist
Former pro MMA fighter, now I channel that intensity into coaching. Run most of our HIIT classes and conditioning programs. ACE certified.
My sessions aren't easy, but you'll leave knowing you actually worked for something.
Nutrition Coach
Registered dietitian with a PhD in sports nutrition. Joined us in 2023 because I was tired of the diet culture BS in mainstream fitness.
I teach people how to actually fuel performance, not just chase some arbitrary number on a scale.
We're not trying to be everything to everyone. Never gonna have a juice bar or a sauna or whatever's trendy this month. What we do have is legitimate coaching, proper equipment, and a community that actually cares about getting better.
Every coach here can actually perform what they're teaching. We don't just talk about it - we live it. Most of us compete in something, whether that's powerlifting, Olympic lifting, or endurance events. We understand what it takes because we're doing it too.
And yeah, the vibe's intense. But it's also supportive. We've got 60-year-olds training alongside college athletes. Nobody cares about your starting point - just that you're willing to show up and work.
